  • This home is equipped with a 7 kW per hour solar system, consisting of 22 Polycrystalline solar panels which feed a 1,080 Ahr battery bank.

  • The batteries store up to 20.8 kW backup power for use during none solar periods (typical: 17:00 till 09:00).

  • The 3 x 4 kW MPPT inverters with built-in charge controllers provide smooth charging of batteries, DC conversion to AC power as well as seamless changeover between solar, battery and utility power. (You don’t even know when changeover takes place)

  • To maximize power savings, an evacuated tube system was added to the existing geyser, which also include a controller panel and 12 V pump.

  • This homeowner now only uses between 200 and 250 kWh utility power per month, compared to previous norm of between 1,000 and 1300 kWh.  Current usage will be reduced further when the stove is converted to gas.
